I put together an article for Yahoo Sports, detailing some of the lesser-known unwritten rules. If we’re lucky, it’ll hit the home page later today.
At the very least, it gave me another excuse to quote Oscar Gamble, which, let’s face it, just doesn’ t happen enough anymore.

The Baseball Codes 
In baseball, never call the Umpire “Blue”, it is disrespectful. Ump, umpire, his first name or Sir are the only acceptable terms. If you do call him Blue in the pro’s you will get a colorful metaphor in return and you won’t like it.
