How to put Hecklers Behind You, Vol. 11

There’s an unwritten rule saying players should never engage a heckler, because it will only inspire further abuse.

This is an old clip of Tony Gwynn Jr. ignoring that rule, but I just found it and it is beautiful.

  1. I was at a LV Ironpigs game two weeks ago, and was giving some friendly ribbing to the center fielder, a Mr. Tyson Gillies. Being a hometown fan, I was not expecting him to turn around and tell me and my friends to f*** off.

Gwynn handled it much better than Gillies did. Bravo!

  2. I love the unique relationship that some outfielders have with the fans in the bleachers. Good humor goes a long way … Tony Gwynn had the right spirit! I’m glad you found the clip and shared it. Thanks!
